Current VAT Rates in Sweden
Sweden applies three VAT rates:
- Standard Rate (25%): This is one of the highest standard rates in the world and applies to most goods and services.

History of VAT in Sweden
Sweden introduced its Value Added Tax system on January 1, 1969, with a standard rate of 11.11%. The country has a long history of high VAT rates as a cornerstone of its extensive welfare state.
